Khushali!

July 11th was Imamat Day (http://www.theismaili.org/cms/775/Imamat-Day-Mubarak). Festivities back home normally entail significant consumption of sherbet (rose water flavoured ice cream shake), cake and lots of dancing and celebrating.

Not wanting to be left out, we hosted our own party at Roshan Village, inviting all to participate in the festivities. We danced raasra (where you clap while dancing backwards) and dandia (where you hit your partner's stick with your own) for 4 hours! Even better - all the expats dressed up in traditional garb.

If you can imagine 50 well dressed, highly enthusiastic indians trying to follow instructions and dance backwards while clapping then you'll understand why it was an awesome way to celebrate.

Khushali Mubarak!
