I fell asleep on the way to work. The bumps and honks blend together into a sort of lullaby.
I was awoken by a knocking on the window.
It was the girl with the green eyes.

How is it - that in a city of millions - she found me? More importantly, why did I see her again? What I am supposed to take away from this experience? A personalization of poverty? Now that I know her face I will somehow understand her situation? She is still just a girl whose name I do not know. Whose life I do not and will never comprehend.
But maybe, her situation is something that I can change.
I don't mean directly. I am not going to find her and give her money. I think that wouldn't fix anything - except make me feel better - heroic even. I could tell tales of how I bought a poor child a meal and therefore saved her life. Conscience cannot be wiped clean with 10 Afgs. I think the point of being here - as an individual, as part of a company with an idea - is that this country has all that it needs to survive and thrive - it just needs opportunities.
